MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Some Milwaukee libraries are going green. New solar panels were installed at the Milwaukee Central, Tippecanoe Branch, and Center Street libraries. It’s part of the city’s goal to get 25% of its electricity from renewable energy by 2025.

“We want this city to be at the forefront of those cities that are trying to make the transformation to renewable and sustainable energy resources,” said Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett

The city currently has 60 kilowatts of solar energy. The new solar panels will create an additional 200 kilowatts.
